Thing 1 & Thing 2's Hullabaloo {a birthday party for Irish twins}

Dr Seuss is a classic theme for children's birthday parties.  As I researched this theme for my soon to be 1 and 2 year olds, I realized many people hadn't used the a specific Thing 1 & Thing 2 theme for Irish twins (Siblings born within 12 months of each other).  I thought that was a perfect theme for my girls so, I began creating the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Hullabaloo theme.

The Invitation:

 Having a husband who is talented enough to take and edit beautiful pictures comes in handy when DIY-ing invitations.  From there, I designed the rest of the background, had my good friend come up with wording and ta-da!  We printed them on photo paper and glued them to brightly patterned card stock.

The Decor:

Daddy took the kids to pick out a fish, since the fish is such a big part of The Cat In The Hat.  They named her "Goldie".

My creative friend who helped with the invites, also drew the characters on poster paper.  We made signs for the drink coolers, food table and a birthday banner.

We bought the Dr Seuss book "Happy Birthday To You" for each of the girls and had their party guests write them a message inside!

And of course, another good friend offered to borrow a Cat in the Hat costume and dress up for the party!  The girls were terrified but the pictures are PRICELESS!

The Food:

I made their Gluten-Free 6in cakes with a Betty Crocker Gfree mix.  They were frosted to look like the Thing 1 & Thing 2 circles on their shirts.

I saw a awesome post somewhere online about making Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes.  My friend Holly recreated them beautifully!  And they were so yummy! We also had jello jigglers, white choc popcorn & veggies!

The Fun:

We got a residential size bounce house, pinata's, had an M&M guessing game, and lots of friends and family!

The Goodies:
With two pinata's stuffed full of candy, I may have gone a bit overboard!
We made Hershey bar wrappers for the the adults to have a goody to take home. Each girl had one that said Happy Birthday with their "thing" and their bday date.
We made little goody bags for the kids with audio recordings of the girls favorite Dr Seuss books, bubbles, Dr Seuss buttons and pencils.  (I forgot to get pictures though :()
